Athabasca University (AU) has a long history of being a leader and innovator in online learning. In fact, AU’s Faculty of Business pioneered the world’s first online MBA 25 years ago.
Today, many universities offer a modified form of online learning combined with in-class elements – but none are like AU.
AU’s strategic plan, Imagine: Transforming Lives, Transforming Communities, embodies our shared, collective future and how we aspire to further strengthen our learners’ journeys. We remove barriers to lifelong learning and ultimately transform the lives and communities in which our students and alumni reside, wherever that may be.
One of the ways we do that is using cutting-edge technology. AU is the first Canadian post-secondary institution to enter into a formal collaboration with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS).
Not only does this collaboration modernize AU’s IT infrastructure, the two organizations will also design, implement, and manage cloud-education programs, artificial intelligence and machine-learning initiatives. It is an innovative step forward for learners, faculty, and staff across the world.
To date, there are almost 4,000 MBA graduates located all over the world.
But we’re not even close to done. We’re boldly looking to the future to continue to empower the next generation of leaders by transforming lives and transforming communities to innovate, advance, and lead change.
